In September, colleagues from Associated Benefits and Risk Consulting (ABRC) and Associated Bank joined Women's Advocates to help clean up landscaping at a women's shelter and package daily supplies for on-the-go moms. Women’s Advocates’ mission is to eliminate violence in the lives of women, children and families. The organization provides a safe place where victims/survivors of all backgrounds and cultures can escape domestic violence and begin to heal. They offer shelter, meals, clothing, transportation, personal needs items, counseling, support, advocacy, referrals, crisis phone and other basic services to women and their children daily. Today, Women’s Advocates provides shelter and services to an average of 50 women and children daily, helps dozens of callers to the crisis line, and educates students and professionals about domestic abuse prevention and services.
This is ABRC's second year volunteering with Women’s Advocates. Co-chairing ABRC's Community Involvement Committee for Associated Women’s Network, Amanda Ackmann and Megan McGowan seek opportunities that resonate with AWN’s mission of supporting women. They typically host and organize a volunteer event each quarter.
